Prague (May 2, 2011) – The media house Economia re-launched its news portal IHNED.cz today. The modern multi-media news website with an attractive design is a result of far-reaching innovation and will provide the best economic information in the Czech Republic.
IHNED.cz has primarily a new, more transparent structure which is divided into six sections (HN News, HN Business, HN Life, HN Tech, HN Sports and HN Dialogue). The content is being prepared not only by the editors of the Hospodářské noviny, but also by the editors of the weekly Ekonom and other publications of the publishing house Economia. In particular the section HN Business, which offers unrivalled business news combined with detailed information on the financial markets, business and personal finances, benefits from the expertise of thus created the largest editorial team in the country. At the same time, text information is followed by a large number of diagrams, charts, videos and animations.
The homepage has been strongly simplified to allow for a quick orientation in the major events of the day at a glance and also highlight the most important cases and the most interesting articles. For this purpose, three-column intuitive graphics has been applied which is used more often abroad than here. A unique feature of the homepage is that it changes during the day and week according to what readers are most interested in at the moment. While in the morning the homepage offers mainly political and economic news, in the evening or on weekends it prefers texts from the HN Life section, which brings both extensive tips on cultural events, as well as tips on restaurants and travel and information about fashion and cars. The advantage of the homepage is that the reader may create a summary of main reports according to his interest at the bottom part of the homepage.
Petr Babický, CEO of Economia, commented on the re-launch of the portal IHNED.cz: "Such a major change of a news website is certainly not risk-free, which is confirmed by the fact that nobody in the Czech Republic has dared to take a similar step since 2006. We were aware of the risks associated with the re-launch of the news website, but at the same time we knew that without major innovations IHNED.cz would quickly fall behind the latest trends in web design and would not longer satisfy our demanding readers and advertising customers. I believe that the new IHNED is positioned to become the top news portal and maintain its position in the long term."
